Accident and Emergency (A&E)
Medical Emergency Service – Call 70 11 31 31
If you need emergency medical assistance outside your own general practitioner’s opening hours, the medical emergency service phones are open between 1600 and 0800 on weekdays and 24 hours a day at weekends and on bank holidays.
The telephone number is the same wherever you live in the Central Denmark Region. Exceptions to this are the emergency medical services on Anholt and Endelave, where the islands’ own doctors provide emergency assistance.
REMEMBER that you must always make an appointment with the emergency medical service before you go to the clinic.
Acute injury and illness
In the event of injury or if you have become ill within the last 24 hours you may attend the A&E unit at the Regional Hospital in Horsens. The unit is open 24 hours a day and you do not need to undergo prior examination. However, you are always welcome to telephone us before you come on
How to find A&E and the Medical Emergency Service
When arriving for A&E you must use entrance F on Sundvej. The Medical Emergency Service is accessed through A&E, i.e. you must use the same entrance. See the map here.
AT A&E we receive and treat patients who:
- have suffered injury within the last 24 hours
- are suffering from an acute, serious illness
- have been seriously injured
- with heart failure
Patients are registered on arrival, and depending on their condition they will be referred to the waiting room or possibly to a ward. Some patients will be referred for examination by their own doctor of the Medical Emergency Service. The condition of patients in the waiting room will be continuously evaluated with regard to priority and examination to ensure that patients are given the right treatment.
