For patients who have had an injection of Sonovue contrast medium in connection with an ultrasound examination

You attended an ultrasound examination today during which Sonovue contrast fluid was injected into a blood vessel in your arm.

Under normal circumstances the contrast is a non-hazardous medium that contains tiny micro air bubbles, which are expelled through the lungs.

Before the injection you were asked about hypersensitivity in general. The assessment was that you would be able to undergo the examination without problems.

In rare cases the contrast medium may cause discomfort in the hours following the examination, most often in the form of injection site reactions, nausea and headache.

This will usually disappear rapidly, but if not you must contact your own general practitioner or duty doctor and tell him/her about the contrast injection you have had.

You must not serve as a blood donor in the 48 hours following the end of your examination.
