The examination is conducted on an exercise bike. During the test an electrocardiogram (ECG) monitors your heart's electrical rhythm and your blood pressure and pulse are measured. The doctor monitors any symptoms you may experience, such as chest discomfort or fatigue. The ECG indicates whether the heart lacks oxygen as the stress level increases.
The examination helps determine the necessity for further tests and/or whether you would benefit from medical treatment and adjustment of present medical treatment.
A doctor and a nurse is present during the examination.
The examination is expected to last approximately 45 minutes. However, the result may not be available immediately after the examination. The doctor may confer the result with a senior consultant.
