Please wait in the waiting room in The Heart Clinic 2, where the staff will collect you.
The placement of the device takes approximately 15 minutes.
About the examination
The device is portable and consists of a small recorder and some electrodes to be attached to your chest. If the electrodes fall off, please re-attach them. The devise is recording continuously, and you will not notice the recording.
You should be able to carry out your normal daily activities (work, cycling, walking, sports etc.).
At night the device must be placed on the bed, to ensure that it does not fall on the floor. The wires are long enough to enable you to move around in bed.
It is important to note any symptoms in the diary, you were given. This is used to compare your possible symptoms with the recordings. The test result is then analysed by a doctor/consultant.
You will receive further instruction about this at the appointment where the device/equipment is attached to you.
After the examination
When the monitoring period is over, you are required to disconnect the electrodes and to return the device to the Heart Clinic 2 as soon as possible, unless otherwise agreed.
You will be informed of the test result either by letter, through your general practitioner or during a consultation at The Heart Clinic.
Further information about the procedure is given, when you have the monitor attached.
